Abstract
This paper focuses on fuel cell as an alternate source of energy has increased due to the many advantages that it can offer in comparison to the conventional energy sources such as fossil fuel and nuclear power. Design and characteristics of a fuel cell power conditioning system (PCS) play a significant role in determining the acceptance of large-scale fuel cell generation systems by power utilities. A modular structured multilevel inverter (MSMI) topology with a digital signal processor (DSP)-based control scheme suitable for high power fuel cell PCS applications is proposed in this paper. Both are described in detail and their performance verified based on simulation and experimental results
