Abstract :
Computational schemes based on the field-matching technique have been developed for the efficient and accurate CAD of multiport power dividers/combiners in the form of 2N-port branch guide couplers. A new approach, called cellular technique, is introduced and compared with the generalized scattering matrix technique previously adopted by other authors. Easier implementation of the numerical optimization procedure, improved numerical efficiency and equivalent accuracy are demonstrated. Theory and experiments on 6- and 8-port couplers are presented.
