Abstract :
With more attentions on electromagnetic pulse (EMP) effect in recent years, the demand for transient electric field measurement in time domain has become more and more urgent. The traditional receiving antenna designed for frequency domain test, such as bi-conical or log-periodic, is not suitable for transient electric field test, and the time domain receiving antenna, such as electric small monopole or dipole, usually output a differential waveform for an input pulse. Therefore, in this paper, the principle of the transient electric field measurement in time domain is analyzed, and a kind of measurement system with original waveform measurement for transient electric field is proposed. The experiment test in GTEM cell shows that the output signal of this system can directly reflect the time domain characteristic of the input pulse and its impulse response time is about 545.83ps that is shorter than 1ns, which means that it can be suitable formeasuring many types of EMP.
