  • Abstract
A novel band-notched elliptical slot antenna is presented for ultra-wideband communication. It is designed to work on a substrate RT/duroid 6006 that has a thickness of 1.27 mm and a relative permittivity (epsivr) of 6.15, and to operate in the UWB band released by FCC in 2002 (3.1-10.6 GHz). The proposed antenna is fed by an elliptical open ended microstrip line that is connected to a 50 Omega main line and utilizes the inverted-U slot in the feed network to reject the frequency band (5.15 5.825 GHz) limited by IEEE802.11a and HIPERLAN/2. The size of the antenna is 50 times 50 mm2 and this antenna has good radiation characteristics. Effects of varying the parameters of inverted-U shaped slot on the performance of antenna have also been studied.
