  • Abstract
The aim of this paper is to define a new design criterion for resonant inverters applied to the control of high-pressure sodium (HPS) lamps. This method may, however, become general for discharge lamps. The analysis is focused on the selection of the most suitable value of the resonant network in order to achieve a better production yield on an industrial scale, once the effect of the aging on the lamp is established. The study is based on the analysis of lamp power sensitivity regarding tolerance of circuit components. The proposed design is validated with experimental results and a statistical study by the Monte Carlo method
