Abstract :
This paper presents the development of a vehicle longitudinal model by studying the dynamics of a ground vehicle dynamic and a powertrain model. The vehicle longitudinal model is an important model to be used in analyzing the performance of a vehicle either in accelerating or braking test in longitudinal direction. In this paper, in order to deal with the variation in the modelling of the vehicle longitudinal model, an important feature in constructing the vehicle longitudinal model was identified. By considering all the important parameters in both the vehicle dynamic and the powertrain model, a complete model to describe the vehicle motion in longitudinal direction was developed using MATLAB SIMULINK and verified using CarSim. The vehicle and wheel speed were observed, including the longitudinal slip of the tyre during the simulation. The results shows the performance of the model in SIMULINK were slightly same as in Carsim model.
