Abstract
This paper presents a rigorous method for calculating nonreciprocal propagation characteristics of double-layered inset dielectric guide containing a magnetized ferrite. The main features of this method are the formulation of integral equations by using Fourier transforms and the derivation of the solution by means of Galerkin´s method. Numerical results for the propagation constants of the forward and backward waves of the dominant mode are presented for various values of the relative permittivity of the dielectric layer. It is found that by using large relative permittivity of the dielectric layer, this IDG structure offers very high nonreciprocity in propagation constants for the realization of efficient nonreciprocal phase shifters.
