Abstract :
The variation in power required to grind slag is about the same as that required for ordinary portland cement. It is although, generally at a higher power level than that required for cement for the same Blaine values. In addition, to produce products having similar strengths, slag must be ground to a higher Blaine than that for normal portland cement. When the effects of inter-grinding of the two materials is taken into account, there is definitely a case made for the separate grinding of the two materials simultaneously, while grinding and blending the two different materials. Excess energy may be expended on one, and insufficient energy on the other in this type of process. When they are ground separately it is easier to control the beneficial qualities of the two different materials. This allows also utilization of the least expensive production process for each material
