Abstract :
This paper examines fatalities related to the haulage and fall-of-ground incidents in the limestone industry over the past three years. A high incident rate has caused the US Mines Safety and Health Administration to focus heavily on enforcement procedures. A close look at each fatality and an examination of the federal mine safety standards relating to each incident is discussed. Policy and procedure recommendations that can be implemented by management to prevent future occurrence are included
