Abstract
A novel deployment oriented role destined integrated protocol called DOP is presented for event-driven wireless sensor networks. Sensors have been prearranged as cluster members or cluster heads prior to the deployment into the monitoring area. Sensors in a group cooperate to detect events and report them to the cluster heads. The cluster heads in the same cluster are bundled together to serve as the virtual cluster head jointly. Different channel assignment approach is adopted for inter or intra cluster communication respectively. Sensor uses two levels of bit-map assisted scheduling to schedule sending and receiving, burst data can be transmitted with multi-channels cooperatively. Simulation results show that DOP not only improves delay and throughput performance significantly while keep the energy efficiency, but also has good scalability in high density networks.
