  • Abstract
In this paper, the retention times of serotonin (5-HT) were investigated on IAM (immobilized artificial membrane) column and IAM-MAO column which MAO was inhibited by clorgyline at various concentrations. The retention time of 5-HT on IAM column was shorter than that on IAM-MAO column. With the increasing of inhibitor concentrations, the retention time of 5-HT on IAM-MAO column became shorter and shorter. The results demonstrated that the MAO was successfully immobilized on IAM. The dynamical immobilized MAO retained its bioactivity. The establishment of artificial cell could better simulate the interaction between 5-HT and MAO in organism. Thus this study proved that BioFC (biologically functionalized chromatography) might become a new concept and method to simulate cell (artificial cell) and a possible tool for the drug screening in the future.
