Abstract
A rigorous design procedure is described for millimeter-wave metal insert filters. The synthesis method includes the use of the three-dimensional finite element method and of an optimization process. This procedure takes higher order modes coupling into account to avoid physical finetuning. A comparison between experimental and finite element method simulated results shows a good agreement. The presented method can easily be extended to other millimeter-wave devices design.
