Abstract :
A bit error rate (BER) simulation tool for a 1.25-MHz bandwidth code division multiple access (CDMA) system in a mobile environment is presented. The communication model used in the analysis, the channel model, and the approach to implement the simulation and predict BER are described. The simulator uses measurement-based channel impulse response data to simulate the system performance in a variety of locations. Performance results for CDMA under a variety of actual channel conditions are presented. Results for carrier frequencies of both 915 MHz and 1.92 GHz are compared. BER results are presented, as are examples of actual speech quality
