Abstract
The modern trend in medical diagnosis is to create 3D medical model of human organ based on 2D image such as CT and MRI, has been familiar and used in clinical diagnosis by surgeon recent years, because 3D model includes and reflects more information in detail than 2D image. 3D medical model has many utilities, including surgery plan design and simulation, defect area inspection, personalized implant design and physical model fabrication. The surface and volume rendering techniques are frequently applied to reconstruct 3-D image sequence based on CT (Computerized Tomography) and MRI (Magnetic Resonant imaging). The process making 3D model of complex biological structure of organs has two phases modeling, which describes geometry of surfaces and rendering that deals with shading and color. Here we use Marching Cubes algorithm for modeling. Before modeling of organ segmentation is done as a preprocessing step. Here active contour segmentation is used to detect boundary of region of interest.
