Abstract :
This paper presents a nonlinear inter-symbol interference (NISI) compensation technique dedicated to low-cost DVB-S2 receivers. The performant NISI compensator based on a polynomial linearizer and a Volterra Canceller is composed of two transversal digital filters which are trained from a recursive least-square (RLS) block. Such an architecture is prohibitively complex if a low-cost application is considered. In order to reach a simplified NISI compensator, this paper presents an architecture based on Hermite polynomials and a simpler training algorithm. Compared with the state of the art, the complexity is quadratically reduced without degrading the receiver performance.
