  • Abstract
The system is based on a multi-media object-oriented data base management system G-BASE, and a logic programming language, G-LOGIS. The paper discusses VORAS, the multi-user prototype of the data base developed in a research context and G-BASE the commercially available product for workstations. The authors report how they used the simple and powerful model of recursive frames (the property drivers model) to implement an integrated system in VORAS. A number of mechanisms have been implemented such as browsing, complex queries, object-oriented programming, and deduction. The authors also describe how the French Navy is exploiting the potential of G-BASE and G-LOGIS to produce a command and control system that monitors the worldwide movement of ships of many nations
