Abstract :
A two-stage balanced coplanar waveguide (CPW) 15 GHz amplifier design is presented which uses reduced-size branchline couplers. Impedance transformation is introduced in to the coupler to reduce the complexity of the devices matching networks. The amplifier has a chip size of only 2mm à 1.7mm and exhibits a measured gain of 16 dB with less than ±0.1dB of ripple over the intended operating range of 14.75-15.25 GHz.
