Characteristics and application of multi-phase space vector PWM (SVPWM) technology based on multi-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) variable speed system with high performance are presented, and experimental performances for motor and inverter are evaluated. The special PWM-Cycle of each interregnum for field oriented control (FOC) is be analyzed, and the improved strategies for performances of PWM are implemented possibly according as the noise spectrum of each switching frequency. Moreover, the study and experiment results based on a six phase PMSM show that the preponderance of efficiency and variable speed capability for multi-phase PMSM variable speed system than corresponding three phase.
