Abstract :
Windings featuring low stray capacitance are usually single layer solenoids with significant turn-to-turn spacing. The accurate stray capacitance estimation is important both during design and to validate measurement results. There exist a few contradictory expressions and results published in the last seventy years; to this aim a new formulation is proposed together with a measurement technique other than the use of LCR bridges and with a reduced uncertainty.
