Abstract :
Three novel fuzzy algorithms for constructing initial placement of integrated circuits are introduced. These algorithms are based on the use of fuzzy set theory and show superior performance to conventional placement algorithms. One of these algorithms, namely the fuzzy clustering method, has inherent potential for placement of large and very large scale integrated circuits due to its comparative efficiency, flexibility and hierarchical structure. Placement examples for all three algorithms are presented and compared with conventional approaches
