Abstract :
To study the relationship between two groups of parameters, namely, the numbers of vehicle nodes, the contention windows, the hidden/exposed vehicle nodes and the system throughput, this paper propose a discrete markov analytic model for performance evaluation of IEEE 802.11 broadcasting protocol for vehicular ad hoc networks. Then, the dynamic relationship between optimized throughput and minimum contention windows is obtained. The analytic model is validated by extensive simulations, and this model can be used to design efficient information broadcasting protocols in vehicular ad hoc networks.
