Abstract :
Demodulation techniques for the multiple accessing scheme code time division multiple access are compared. To simplify the demodulator it is divided into two parts, a despreader and a user separator. For despreading it is shown that a sequence aperiodic inverse filter is preferred over the sequence matched filter. For user separation the performance of a channel matched filter, a decision-feedback equalizer, linear minimum-mean square error filters, the hard-output Viterbi algorithm and the forward-backward algorithm are compared in terms of cut-off rate. The resulting curves quantify the performance improvement attained by using more powerful algorithms
