Abstract
System modelling of electrical schematics has traditionally involved detailed numerical component models. Although this yields detailed information about component performance, it provides little information about system functionality and requires a significant amount of effort to build the required models. As a result, the work is often only performed during the later stages of development. We present a method of combining models of system functionality with qualitative models of component behaviour to perform high-level system analysis such as failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) and sneak circuit analysis (SCA).
