Fuzzy analysis of color images of fruits

This paper presents an efficient automatic analysis of fruits using fuzzy logic in a rule-based expert system. The analysis is based on digital images of a large number of fruits taken on an assembly line before packaging. The approach consists of two steps: (i) preprocessing to calculate the key indicators (color, texture, and size), and (ii) fuzzy processing of rules provided by the experts concerning how fruits are picked. The application is given in accessing the quality of cherries that is used in the determination of prices and the export destination.
