Abstract :
In this paper, a novel optical injection-locked optoelectronic oscillator (OIL OEO) leveraging the high frequency and high gain resonance peak of an OIL VCSEL (vertical cavity surface emitting laser) is proposed. A pure radio frequency (RF) signal at 20 GHz with phase noise performance of 20 dB better than a commercial RF synthesizer is also demonstrated.
