Abstract :
According to modern manufacturing conceptions and the bottleneck problems of computer integrated manufacturing system (CIMS), a product rapid development system is studied as well as its architectural structure. After analysis of knowledge management system for product rapid development (KMS-PRD) requirement, the needs for KMS-PRD are explored in depth. A framework of KMS-PRD is proposed to support product rapid development by providing a knowledge collection, storage, share, reuse and application platform. According to the framework, the key issues and challenges is investigated to guide the development of KMS-PRD. The results of this research will facilitate the rationalization of product development and thus shorten the development time.
