Abstract :
Two image segmentation methods have been developed to determine the soil cover percentage. The first method uses color difference between soil and canopy, and the second method utilizes textural difference between soil and residue. These methods are shown to compare well with the photographic grid method. They were able to measure percentage soil cover quickly, accurately, and with little human error
