Abstract :
An effective broadcasting protocol should satisfy driver´s needs for various transportation information which can enhance the security, comfort and convenience of journey. We propose a discrete Markov analytic model for performance evaluation of IEEE 802.11 MAC-broadcasting protocol under saturation condition for vehicular ad hoc networks in highways. Through the analysis, we can study the relationship between two groups of parameters, namely, the number of vehicle nodes, the contention windows, the hidden/exposed vehicle nodes and the communication reliability, the system throughput, the broadcasting delay. The proposed analytic model is validated by extensive simulations. Numerical results also reveal characteristics of the broadcast service. These characteristics of the broadcast service can help us design efficient broadcast protocol for broadcast various emergency transportation information.
