  • Abstract
Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) greatly promotes the development of standard solutions to the integration of healthcare information systems. For Electrocardiograph (ECG) examination, however, IHE only specifies how to retrieve ECG for display, which doesn´t meet the integration needs of the whole process of ECG examination. This paper put forward an integration profile for ECG workflow based on the principle of IHE, defined actors and transactions to address system integrations in the workflow of ECG examination, and specified Health Level Seven (HL7) messages to transmit information required for system communications. The ECG workflow integration profile designed in this paper is an extension of the existing IHE Cardiology Technical Framework, which can provide references to establish technical specifications of system integrations related to ECG examination in the future. The work in this paper has positive significance for sharing healthcare information and improving interoperability of ECGrelated healthcare information systems.
