Abstract :
In control applications, the trend is to use a distributed architecture that interconnects different embedded controllers building a wider embedded system. The concept of a virtual machine using Java is especially useful for this approach, allowing the use of a control strategy independently of the platform device. To perform the tasks intrinsic to the control application, network management, communication supports to achieve remoteness, and the use of a distributed computation model should be applied. Java introduced the Jini specification and associated functions to handle distributed collaboration. The architecture comprises the perfect tools for creating flexible and robust distributed systems. Since distributed systems are dynamic by nature, it is desirable that it offers configuration and reconfiguration capabilities. Jini turns this capacity into a practical benefit, providing a simple mechanism to locate objects on the network based on their functionality and downloads them into a client. We explore the possibility of developing an intelligent distributed system including the Jini architecture in the microcontrollers Java Virtual Machine, JVM
