Abstract :
The paper develops a decision support system for orthodontics, which is evidence-based and can reduce the bias of subjective judgments of orthodontists, meet the expectation of the patients, and increase the cost performance and effectiveness. The steps of constructing the system can be divided into eight steps, selecting influencing factors, adjust images, measurement of image, collecting related data, validation rules, general decision rules, constructing the decision support model for cephalometry, and general diagnosis reports of cephalometry. The decision model consists of four parts, namely, rules, knowledge base, vocabulary base and decision support engines. The system contains 35 rules, which meet the clinical practice. The polling results show that the experts consider the system is helpful and can reduce the diagonal time and make the treatment more efficient and effective.
