Abstract :
This paper presents a performance analysis of wind-powered self-excited induction generator (SEIG) and a vector-controlled pulse-width modulation (PWM) converter. Three-phase voltage-source converters are the building blocks of a great number of power electronic systems. The origin of difficulties in the control of the above converters is in their nonlinear nature. The PWM current control technique is used to derive the switching signals for the converter. Closed-loop control of the converter utilizes a conventional proportional integral (PI) controller. In order to examine the dynamic performance of the system, its model is simulated and results are analyzed. The simulation results are given using MATLAB7/SIMULINK toolbox program. Experimental results confirm that the good performance of the proposed control system. This particular system can be applied on wind energy conversion systems.
