Abstract
This work presents an accurate and detailed analysis of the magnetic radial force density of a PM machine with 12-teeth/10-poles winding topology. The air-gap radial force density distribution of the studied PM machine, as function of angular position and corresponding space harmonics (modes) is analysed using a combination of finite elements (FE) and analytical methods. It is shown that, due to the presence of a large number of low and high order space MMF harmonics, low frequency modes of vibration are excited in this type of machines.
