Abstract :
An efficient numerical technique was developed for the search of leaky waves with negligible attenuation based on the known connection between the subspace of simple reflections and the occurrence of true surface waves on a leaky wave branch. The new technique was applied to some crystallographic areas of quartz in which leaky wave is known to degenerate into a true surface wave at least at one point. As a result, the continuous lines of leaky waves with negligible attenuation have been found and their propagation characteristics numerically investigated.
