Abstract :
In this paper, component carrier selection and interference coordination for carrier aggregation system in Heterogeneous Networks are addressed. To deal with the interference between Macro cell and Pico cell, the proposed scheme dynamically selects the component carriers with the cooperation of the other cells for interference avoidance. Since the selection criterion is based on a modified carrier specific PF metric, the scheme will reserve the proper portion of carriers during which the Macro nodes are partially muted allowing the users in the range extension area to be served with lower interference. Additionally, user cell association by the Harmonic Mean rate metric is used to improve the cell-edge performance further. Simulation results compared with the baseline approach demonstrate that the proposed scheme can achieve high cell-average and cell-edge throughput for the Pico cell in the Heterogeneous Networks.
