Abstract :
This paper addresses the context-based information provision from external sources in intelligent environments. The overall goal is to assist people by exploring the content, linking new information to their own knowledge, and providing related information. Therefore, we investigate the entire process: a) identifying the users information need, b) collecting the needed information, and c) displaying the collected information. First, we examine methods to recognize the users information needs. We then illuminate the various external information sources with their great amount of diverse information types. Due to the high variety of external sources, we focus on scientific publications. The objective is to provide adequate scientific publications related to the context within the intelligent environment. The investigation described here also requires to consider privacy issues. We depict the selection of the displaying device.
