Abstract
This paper presents a simple hands-on project for locating a random noise source in real time using correlation based algorithms. In this respect, a simple experiment for one dimensional acoustic source locating is proposed. Through this project, the students are challenged to solve a real world practical problem, by combining knowledge from various science areas. Based on several proposed criteria, designed to identify and stimulate the creativity level, two team types are compared through this project. The results indicate an enhanced creativity level of the mixed learning styles group while the final prototype quality score is similar to the reference group.
