Abstract :
This paper presents, for the first time in the microwave literature, a method of using a quasi-optical amplifier in the base station of a millimetre-wave wireless LAN. Layouts for wireless LAN base stations using transmission and reflection mode quasi-optical amplifiers are presented. The reflection mode amplifier array is especially suitable for use as a no-wiring relay station. Results for prototype reflection mode amplifiers which operate at a frequency of 15GHz are also presented.
