Abstract
IEEE Standard 1566 is undergoing the reaffirmation and re-balloting process. This is the stage in the life cycle of an IEEE Standard when modifications, corrections, and new additions to the Standard can be introduced. A team of twenty or so interested engineers that comprise adjustable speed drive (ASD) manufacturers, end users, and consultants has developed appropriate changes for incorporation into the Standard. These changes will be balloted by qualified and interested engineers. At the time of writing this review the new text for IEEE Standard 1566 is being prepared for ballot but has not yet been balloted.
