A discussion is presented of Bellcore´s view of software reliability and quality (R&Q) requirements. Also addressed is Bellcore´s experience with selected software reliability test issues encountered during the technical analysis of switching systems, and their impact on user telephone companies. Ongoing software R&Q analysis activities are outlined
