Abstract
Quality factor of optical resonator is expected to increase with the increase of the group index of the resonator´s medium. Using 1D photonic crystal (PhC) to artificially create slow light medium inside microresonators by exploiting the high group index near the PhC band edge was recently proposed. This paper experimentally demonstrates a 1-D PhC embedded in a Fabri-Perot (FP) micro-resonator, where the mirrors are realized by the mode mismatch between the 1D PhC and the unperturbed strip waveguide.
