Abstract
In this paper the design aspects for the optical router using MEMS is analyzed. The router routes the incoming signal based on the code word assign to that particular router. The router is configured using a combination of optical combiners, wavelength filters, optical splitters, MEMS optical switch and photo detector. The filter is required to isolate the different spectral components of the code. Code tunability could be achieved by placing the filter on a tunable MEMS platform. The symmetry of the structure is varied mechanically to filter a desired wavelength. The correlation output obtained by filtering and combining, is compared with a threshold and directed to the appropriate output port of the router by a combination of couplers, photodetector and MEMS switch.
