Abstract :
Measurements of multipaction thresholds obtained with one to 10 carrier signals are reported. Filters of the corrugated type served as test samples. The experimental set-up required for multicarrier tests is described. When n carriers are superimposed, phase adjustment of all signals is essential for n ¿ 3. Wihout phase adjustment the n2P maxima may never occur during testing. The peaks will only occur at constant repetition rate when the test frequencies are separated by multiples of the smallest separation. The ¿ cycle mode appears to be the preferred multipaction mode even in larger gaps.
