Abstract :
A novel FDTD algorithm is developed based on the generalized wave equation. It utilizes the symmetrical condensed node (SCN) discretization of space, but all the difficulties with spurious modes inherent in the previous SCN TLM and SCN FDTD schemes are successfully eliminated. Reliability and accuracy of the new algorithm are demonstrated in the analysis of waveguide dispersion characteristics and of scattering at inhomogeneous discontinuities.
