Abstract :
Planar photonic integrated circuits based on VCSEL are achieved by embedding an optical waveguide within the resonance cavity of the VCSEL, and utilizing diffraction grating couplers to efficiently diffract light from the VCSEL cavity into the waveguide in each lateral direction.
