Abstract :
The Chukha power plant in Bhutan consists of four units of 84 MW each of pelton wheel turbines operating under a head of 435 m. It is interconnected with a steam power plant at Farakka, India, consisting of four units of 100 MW each. The objectives of the study are (1) to model and simulate the speed and load changes of the two plants for a small step change of load applied anywhere in the power network and (2) to study the effect of variation of the Chukha governor parameters (within their operating ranges) on these responses. The effect of the Chukha governor parameters on the speed and load changes for a small disturbance in the power network is investigated. The governor and the turbine transfer functions of the power plants are combined together to yield the transfer function of speed devation against load change
