  • Abstract
    Closed-waveguide measurements are reported on synthetic microwave chiral media at X-band frequencies using a novel 8-port polarimetric waveguide junction. The scattering matrix of the junction is derived using a chain matrix algorithm for doubly connected multi-port junctions. For the first time, the effects of variations in helix material, dimensions, orientation, concentration, host material and sample thickness have been dssessed experimentally. Medium parameters are determined from the mesured wave reflection, absorption, transmission and depolarisation using a numerical inversion algorithm.
