  • Abstract
    It is well known that sea ice and icebergs pose a serious hazard to shipping and other maritime activities in the polar regions. The role of Earth observation (EO) data in operational ice monitoring is well documented and has grown in importance over the years. Ice Centers have evaluated the EO data sources currently available to provide emergency response and provide recommendations for improved responsiveness in the future.
