Abstract
The medium term scenario for fixed point-to-point Radio Systems is reviewed, highlighting market trends, applications and major technical features new radio systems are expected to exhibit. The analysis of the market demand for the various radio families shows that the RF signal processing and the related technology will continue to play a dominant role in matching both the new technical requirements and the increasing market price pressure. Hard and challenging tasks are anticipated for MW developments in order to release competitive and performing products. In this light, all the major issues related to modern and innovative "Transceiver" technology are introduced and discussed in detail, trying to present a comprehensive picture of the technical effort any leading Radio Manufacturer will be asked to support in the near future.
