Abstract :
In this paper we investigate the scaling properties of return-time sequences produced by a system of two coupled chaotic oscillators. Using the wavelet based multifractal formalism we show that transitions through the boundary of the synchronization region can significantly reduce the degree of multiscality in the characteristic time intervals. Features of entrainment in systems of interacting units with several temporal scales are discussed, and experimental results for coupled nephrons of the kidney are analyzed.
